Plant special features
Nerve plant is a widely use ornamental plant found mostly in terrariums. It grows well indoors and sometimes grown as a creeping ground cover in filtered sun locations.

PLANT CARE
Sunlight: | Fittonia prefer bright, indirect light, but they are adaptable to medium light conditions as well but if you want to see good growth, place them in bright indirect light or filtered light. |
---|---|
Watering: | Ā Fittonia do not like to have their soil dry out, but they donāt like it to be wet, either. Instead, a ābarely moistā atmosphere is the way to go. Fittonias dramatically wilt their leaves when they feel even a little bit thirsty and luckily they will perk back up after you give them a drink. Maintaining a regular watering routine is the key. |
Soil: | It requires a peaty, well drained and organic-rich soil medium. The plant needs to be kept constantly moist with a high level of ambient humidity provided by frequent misting or by growing it in a tray filled with pebbles and water. |
Fertilizer: | The nutrients your plant came with should last around six months, so it is around that time period that we suggest to pay attention to all the growth changes and have fertilizer ready to go. After that six months of fertilization, all of your plants nutrients are a responsibility for you to undertake as the new plant parent. Feed the plant with organic fertilizer once in 2 week during the active growth period i.e. spring or early summer. |
Propagation: |
Repot the plant about every other year at the end of summer. At the time of repotting pick a pot that is at least 1-2 inches bigger than your previous pot. Do the re-potting late evening and keep the plant in shady area for 2 to 3 days and then move the plant in its suitable climatic condition.
This plant can be propagated taking stem or leaf cuttings. Simply cut the stem at the node and place it in water in a bright, warm space and alternatively, you can cut a leaf and stick that in water as well. This takes about two to eight weeks. |
Dos and Donāts:
⢠Make sure your fittonia plant is in filgtered sun-location.
⢠Common insect problems include fungus gnats, mealy bugs, or aphids. Infestations should be treated immediately through spraying neem oil, Eucalyptus or Citrus oil, as a primary treatment.
